ABS-PC FILAMENT

ACRYLNITRIL-BUTADIEN-STYROL POLYCARBONAT

Processing parameters:

Extrusion temperature: 280 °C
Platform temperature: 90 – 105 °C

PC-ABS is a plastic made from a mixture of polycarbonate  (PC) and acrylnitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and is available in black. PC-ABS is a further development of the classic ABS plastic. This filament combines the properties of two excellent FDM thermoplastics, namely the high strength and heat resistance of PC, as well as the good toughness at low temperatures and the ease of processing of ABS.

This plastic has an optimized flow behavior and can then be painted and glued. This plastic is used particularly in the electronics and automotive sectors. It has good electrical insulation, which is why this material is well suited for the manufacture of connectors and switches.

This 3D printer filament is a little more complex to use. It requires high printing temperatures and is hygroscopic (able to bind moisture), which is why it is very demanding, especially when it comes to storage.

Löslichkeit/Beständigkeit

ABS-PC is resistant to diluted acids, diluted alkalis and oils and can be dissolved in esters and ketones (especially acetone).

Post-Processing

A wide range of post-processing methods is available for ABS. The plastic can be welded, glued and painted.

Einsatzbereiche

Housing components, prototypes for power tools, automotive industry, plugs and switches
